Not a chatbot. A judgment in 0.2 s.

Jev is TypeSafe’s System One model, named after the fast, intuitive kind of thinking. It doesn’t write a reply. It reads what you said and answers the questions JevSay asks, each with a probability.

  • Nothing to generate. A chat model writes its answer word by word, and then someone has to parse it. Jev returns typed answers directly: an intent, an app, a yes or a no.
  • Every answer comes with its odds. JevSay acts only when Jev is sure: at least 0.75 that you asked for this, 0.75 that you were talking to your Mac, and 0.80 on the app. Below that, it stays quiet or asks you to rephrase.
  • One judgment, any mix of languages. English, 中文 and sentences that switch halfway through all go to the same model.

JevSay gets to work at your first quarter-second pause. By the time you’ve clearly stopped talking, your words are recognized and Jev has decided. What’s left is a deliberate wait to make sure you’re done.

Lives on the edge of your screen

When idle, the dock tucks into a slim tab that glows blue while it listens. It slides out when you speak and tucks away a few seconds later. It never takes keyboard focus from the app you’re in.

Switch languages mid-sentence. US, UK and Indian English each have their own setting.

Notes as fast as you talk

Dictate into a note beside the dock. “删掉上一句” removes the last line; “保存” saves it to Apple Notes without switching apps.

Every menu, by name

Jev chooses from the menu items your app actually has enabled: new tab, undo, bold, zoom, reload and more.

Learns your words

Add the names it keeps missing to a personal dictionary: products, colleagues, your team’s jargon.

Ignores the room

Talk to a colleague or think out loud. JevSay acts only on what Jev judges was meant for your Mac.

  • Your audio. Held in memory for the current request, then discarded.
  • Speech recognition, in local mode. About 260 MB of verified models, downloaded once.
  • Diagnostic logs, which stay off unless you turn them on.

  • The transcript text, sent to TypeSafe so Jev can understand it.
  • Audio, but only if you pick ElevenLabs Scribe for recognition.

What is Jev?

Jev is the flagship model from TypeSafe and its first System One model. Like a large language model, it understands natural language. Unlike one, it doesn’t generate text: it returns typed answers and probabilities that software can act on directly, which is why it’s fast enough to sit between your voice and your Mac.

What do I need?

A Mac running macOS 14 or later. JevSay asks for the microphone, Accessibility (for menus and typing) and Automation (for Notes and Reminders). Local recognition downloads about 260 MB of models the first time.

Does it work offline?

Recognition can run offline. Understanding goes through Jev, so JevSay needs a connection before it acts.

Which languages does it understand?

English (US, UK and Indian) and Mandarin Chinese, including both in a single sentence.

Can it do anything on my Mac?

No, and that’s on purpose. It runs a defined set of actions: apps, websites, search, menus, Notes, Reminders, scrolling and Photo Booth. It won’t send messages or run scripts, and it leaves deleting your content to you. When it can’t do something, it tells you instead of guessing.
